Moondog

Moondog is an Atlanta-based band, formed during the COVID-19 shutdown in 2021. The band took its name from lead vocalist Joey Mayes' teenage nickname. Mayes, along with fellow musician Tim Geary, initially sought to record original music and decided to find a female vocalist to complement Mayes’ vocals. After several auditions, they teamed up with their percussionist friend, David Knaub, to record tracks. Knaub introduced Alexis LaSalle, a talented vocalist and keyboardist, to take on the vocal duties. LaSalle’s involvement proved pivotal as she suggested bassist Michael Thornton, who recorded four songs with the band. After Thornton's departure for personal reasons, Christian Caden joined the group, having met Mayes and Geary during local club duo shows. Moondog’s music is a rich fusion of Americana, folk, rock, and country, characterized by strong chord progressions and clever wordplay.
